After rehoming a Belgian shepherd named Lady—a retired military dog suffering from PTSD—our founder, Jo Emslie, recognised the need for affordable and effective support for dogs with behavioural problems or high drive. Our Inspiration

Lady’s transformation from a highly reactive, anxious dog to a confident dog taught us invaluable lessons in dog handling. Every step of the way, we applied a combination of patience, understanding, and specialised training methods. We now apply these same principles to our programmes, helping other dogs find the confidence to overcome their struggles. No matter how severe the past trauma, we’re here to guide your dog towards success, just as we did with Lady.

Finding the Right Balance

Jo Emslie, our founder and lead handler, comes from a long line of dog lovers. With a military background as a reservist dog handler, she has combined her diverse experience with both civilian and military dogs to create this academy. Lady’s K9 Academy is dedicated to giving every dog a chance at a better life, providing owners with the tools and knowledge to build lasting, positive relationships with their pets. We’re proud to offer support and guidance for dog owners alongside compassionate care for dogs.

Child Safety Classes

This class teaches children about dogs’ body language, communication, and behaviour. Covering scenarios such as encountering unknown dogs in friends’ houses or loose dogs in parks, this is a fun and educational class.

Junior Handler

This workshop is for older children to build a better understanding of dogs communication and behaviour. This course covers in detail safe handling for children who maybe taking the responsibility of walking their family dog. If you are getting a rescue or new dog. This is a more practical works shop with theory and practical components held in a safe and secure environment.
